Charity Tuesday — Spirit Jump & Cards4Cancer Uplifting the Spirits of those Battling Cancer Worldwide

This is the first post in a series of regular postings on (most) Tuesdays highlighting our favorite non-profits, organizations and people making an impact in the charity world. Those following us on Twitter may already be familiar with the #charitytuesday concept of sharing favorite charities with others. We will continue to spread the love on Twitter and will introduce a favorite of ours to you, each week, right here. Without further ado, welcome to Charity Tuesday!

Recently we were introduced to a wonderful non-profit by the name of Spirit Jump. Founded by a cancer survivor, Meaghan Edelstein, Spirit Jump puts the focus on helping lift the spirits of those currently battling cancer by sending cards and small gifts to those who need it most. This year on April 10th, Spirit Jump along with its partners will be holding the first annual Cards 4 Cancer Day. Below is a great explanation of what it is all about:

“On April 10th 2010 Spirit Jump along with Bloggers Unite and its sponsors are pleased to bring you our First Annual Cards 4 Cancer Day. Battling cancer can be one of the most difficult and loneliest experiences a person can go through. With cancer touching so many lives around the world it’s time to let them know they are not alone. Our mission is to provide hope and comfort to the many men, women and children who are involved in this battle. With your help Spirit Jump hopes to collectively deliver over 100,000 cards.”

The response has been huge and we’re really excited to hear it! As of the mid-February, they have teams in nearly every state and in 8 different countries. Over 50 hospitals confirmed their participation in the event and over 500 teams have signed up. But this is just the beginning and there is still a lot of time left to participate and help out where you can. You can join a team to help provide cards and gifts, donate funds to help the mission, or at the very least… help spread the word!
