Few issues are as pressing today as the need to curb and reverse the effects of global warming on our planet. There simply is no deferment of this potentially cataclysmic issue. We must act now, before it’s too late. One way to help reduce the impact of our carbon imprint on the world is a rather simple one: the planting of trees. Trees convert carbon dioxide into oxygen. Not only that, they provide habitat for wildlife and create beauty that lasts generations. Everyone must do what they can if we are going to tackle global warming and for our part, ONEHOPE will plant one tree for every bottle of Sauvignon Blanc sold. Who knows, one day you can enjoy a glass of that Sauvignon Blanc under the shade of a tree you helped plant.

Support our Troops. Military families have always paid a steep price. Their sacrifices and the loss of their loved ones serving in our armed forces should be honored. One in 75 American troops who have gone to war has never returned. 4,735* souls have perished in the struggle for peace and security in the war in Iraq. Those heroes leave behind more than a legacy of honor and courage. In many instances, children are left without moms and dads, some never even getting to know their fallen parents. That’s why ONEHOPE donates 50% of the profits garnered from the sale of every bottle of ONEHOPE Zinfandel towards Troops and their families.

Fight Against Autism

Autism is a developmental disorder that afflicts children between birth and the age of three. Kids with autism have issues with social interaction, communication, and a host of other behavioral manifestations. Unfortunately, more is unknown about autism than is known. Every year, the number of children diagnosed with autism rises. Most recent studies conclude that an estimated one in every 150 children in the United States has autism or a closely related disorder. The number of cases has risen dramatically since the 1980s. Genetics, vaccines and environmental circumstances are cited as potential causes, but consensus is hard to come by. What is known is that much more needs to be done in the area of research, diagnosis and treatment. That’s why 50% of the profits generated by every bottle of our ONEHOPE Cabernet goes toward grants for underprivileged families coping with autistic children. Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability affecting as many as 1 in every 150 births. Anywhere from 1 to 1.5 million Americans have autism and 3 out of 4 of these are male.

Fight Against Breast Cancer

Mothers. Sisters. Wives. Daughters. All women are vulnerable to breast cancer. No family is immune; no group is beyond its sinister reach. It is the third most common cause of cancer death in the U.S. after lung and colon cancer – and for women, the most common type of cancer diagnosis. Great strides have been made in the fight against breast cancer. Better drugs and diagnostic methods are helping women combat this disease today, but much work still needs to be done. More women are living with breast cancer, surviving and remaining cancer free than ever before, but still women in the U.S. have a 1 in 8 lifetime chance of developing breast cancer, and a 1 in 33 chance of breast cancer causing their death. These numbers are unacceptable and the truth of the matter is that we can and must do better. To that end, ONEHOPE donates 50% of profits generated from the sale of every bottle of our Chardonnay towards breast cancer research. In 2005, breast cancer caused 502,000 deaths worldwide.

Fight Against AIDS

AIDS, or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is a virus that attacks the immune system, severely compromising the body’s ability to fight off disease. Typically, the viruses spread through the exchange of bodily fluids either through sexual contact or by the sharing of contaminated intravenous needles. Twenty years ago, an AIDS diagnosis was a certain death sentence, with victims typically suffering horribly painful and gruesome deaths. Thanks to research, awareness/education and recent medical breakthroughs, an AIDS diagnosis isn’t as dire, but still, one in 200 people around the world today are either infected by AIDS or carrying the HIV virus. That’s 33.2 million people living with this disease. In 2007, 2.1 million people died from AIDS, including 330,000 children. And the danger of AIDS and future mutations of the virus spiraling out of control is very real; we shouldn’t be lulled into any sense of false security. Much research is needed to find a cure once and for all. That’s why ONEHOPE donates 50% of profits from every bottle of our Merlot toward the fight against AIDS. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that in 2008 approximately 56,300 people in the United States will be newly infected with HIV.
