Our 2008 ONEHOPE California Zinfandel has ripe crisp flavors enhanced with the addition of Petite Sirah, which adds a touch of spice, richness and grip to the blend. A portion of the wine spent 10 months in oak, adding vanilla and sweet spice notes. Crisp red berry and currant flavors, a touch of allspice and a smooth yet crisp finish. This wine is versatile and fun to try with a wide range of dishes.

Why Zinfandel and our Troops?

Zinfandel is commonly referred to as the “All American Grape” since it is California’s most widely planted grape. Therefore, ONEHOPE is proud to support our troops with this all-American wine. Currently, there are over 140,000 brave men and women in uniform serving our country. Over 4,100 military casualties have occurred post 9/11, affecting thousands of wives, husbands and children. We honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country’s freedom. Their heroic deeds will never be forgotten.

Our California Sauvignon Blanc displays classic characteristics, with aromas of fresh honeydew and citrus fruits that carry through to the palate. With its fruity, aromatic flavors, this wine pairs especially well with fish like salmon and halibut, as well as light pasta dishes. It can also accompany fresh fruits and cheeses to highlight its complex taste.

Why Sauvignon Blanc and the Planet?

Due to its grassy and herbaceous notes, Sauvignon Blanc is commonly referred to as the “green” wine. Therefore, the health and well-being of our planet is the perfect cause to pair with our Sauvignon Blanc. America is the number one global warming polluter, contributing 25% of emissions, even though the U.S. makes up only 5% of the world’s population. We encourage you to incorporate green practices into your daily lifestyle, and help us protect the environment.

Our California Merlot is a rich garnet color, with flavors of black cherries, plums and figs — and a soft, smooth finish. With its crisp acidity and ripe fruit flavors, this wine is an easy match with a wide range of main courses, including meats, pasta and vegetarian dishes.

Grapes for our 2008 ONEHOPE California Merlot were selected from among the best coastal growing regions in California — mainly from Lodi and Paso Robles, as well as the North Coast. In these areas, warm, sunny days provide optimum grape ripening, while Pacific Ocean fog creates cool nights and maintains the acidity in the grapes, resulting in a balanced Merlot full of flavor.

Merlot & HIV/AIDS

Merlot is one of the most popular varietals in the world. It has been one of the cornerstone wine-making grapes for hundreds of years. HIV/AIDS is arguably the biggest epidemic in the world, taking the lives of over 25 million people in the last 25 years. We thought the Merlot paired well with the fight against HIV/AIDS because HIV/AIDS has been such a consistent threat to millions of people over the years, and Merlot has consistently been one of marquee varietals for numerous decades.

Our California Chardonnay displays textbook varietal characteristics, with golden straw color, apple and citrus flavors, medium body, and a crisp yet smooth finish. With its light acidity and even texture, the wine is an excellent choice for before dinner and pairs magnificently with a wide array of appetizers. It moves into a meal with ease, matching well with grilled or broiled fish and seafood as well as poultry dishes.

Grapes for our 2008 ONEHOPE California Chardonnay were chosen from across California’s best coastal growing regions, known for producing Chardonnay with excellent acidity and balanced flavors, including select Central Coast appellations, Mendocino County and Sonoma County.

Chardonnay & Breast Cancer

While our Chardonnay pairs well with seafood and poultry, it pairs even better with breast cancer awareness. Women buy two bottles of Chardonnay for every one bottle of all other varietals combined. Because women are the most active supporters in the breast cancer community, it makes sense to pair the pink ribbon with the most popular varietal for women.
