In this blog, we’ll break down the magic of this dish, why sparkling wine is the perfect match, and how to serve it like a pro this holiday.
Grape Potato Salad + Sparkling Wine = Fireworks
A creamy, classic potato salad is synonymous with summer. In this recipe, we wanted to take this summer barbecue staple and freshen it up a bit with an array of textures, flavors, and colors. The vegetables add some nice crunch, while the grapes add the perfect pop of sweetness to balance this dish out.
Why This Works
Pair your wholesome potato salad with our Out of Office Gold Shimmer Sparkling Brut. The bubbles and acidity in sparkling wine cut through the richness of the mayo and bacon while enhancing the brightness from lemon, dill, and crunchy veggies. It’s playful, it’s polished, and it totally slays your side dish game.
Grape Potato Salad Recipe

- 1 ½ pounds baby Yukon gold potatoes, cubed
- 8 strips cooked thick-cut bacon, chopped
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup grainy mustard
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- Juice of 1 lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill + extra for garnish
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon ground pepper
- ¼ red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 celery ribs, sliced
- ½ cucumber, quartered and sliced
- 2 cups heirloom cherry tomatoes, halved
- 2 cups red table grapes, halved
Instructions
- Add potatoes to a large pot of water. Bring to a boil and cook for 20–30 minutes until fork tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk mayo, mustard, garlic, lemon juice, dill, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Add potatoes, onion, celery, cucumber, tomatoes, grapes, and bacon. Toss to coat evenly.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with fresh dill.
Test Kitchen Tip:
Bake your bacon! Lay it on parchment-lined sheet trays and bake at 400°F for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through for perfectly crispy results.
Serving Tips to Make It Shine
Chill the Sparkle
Sparkling brut is best served cold, about 40–45°F. Don’t forget to pop it in the fridge the night before, or give it a 30-minute ice bath if you’re short on time.
Garnish for Style Points
Right before serving, add a few extra sprigs of fresh dill on top. It brings brightness and a bit of finesse to the bowl.
Frozen Grape Hack
Freeze a handful of grapes and drop them into your wine glass to keep things cool without watering down the flavor.
