How to Build the Perfect Cheese Board for Fall

It’s officially November and that means the holiday season is officially upon us! If you’re looking to plan ahead for Thanksgiving, host a wine tasting, or a arrange fun Friendsgiving potluck where you need to bring a special dish, we’re here to help! We’ve compiled everything you need to build the perfect cheese board this Fall that’s sure to impress your guests!

Step 1: Pick two or three of your favorite cheeses

We recommend going with at least 1 soft cheese and 1 hard cheese. For ours, we picked a scrumptious Wensleydale with Cranberry (soft cheese) and an Artikaas Gouda aged 5 years (hard cheese). You could also go with a classic brie or goat cheese rolled in pistachios for a tasty seasonal touch!

Step 2: Choose your meats

While you can absolutely go vegetarian for your cheese board, we like the balance of charcuterie with our creamy cheeses. We went with a classic prosciutto, Bresaola, and an uncured Genoa salami!

Step 3: Add seasonal fruits & nuts

One thing that takes a cheese board from bland to grand is the addition of fresh fruits and nuts! Take a look at what’s new and in season at the grocery store or farmer’s market and add accordingly. For Fall, we love munching on juicy pears, grapes, pomegranate, and festive persimmons! Add some pecans, walnuts, and dried cranberries to take it to the next level!

Step 4: Pick a jam for spreading

One of our favorite ways to enjoy cheese is with a little jam on top of a cracker! There are so many delicious seasonal jams to choose from, it’s hard to pick just one! We went with a cranberry cherry cabernet jam and it was INCREDIBLE! Other great options include fig jam, apple cranberry chutney, pear jam, or a savory option like bacon and onion jam!

Step 5: Add some festive Fall elements

Once you’ve arranged your perfect Fall cheese board, you’ll need to add some final touches! Take mini pumpkins, fall leaves, or fresh herbs like rosemary and arrange on your board for a festive pop of color!
