Make Every Summer Night a Pizza & Wine Celebration
There’s no better way to enjoy a summer evening than hosting a pizza and wine night. Even without a wood-fired oven, your standard kitchen oven is ready to help you create gourmet homemade pizzas. Gather your favorite toppings and loved ones for an unforgettable culinary experience.
Featured Pizza Pairings
- Tiffany’s go-to pizza is what we call the “Presidential Power Pizza” – red sauce, shredded mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, and olives. Big and bold flavors call for an equally big wine, so Tiff pairs this with our Vintner Collection California Cabernet Sauvignon.
- Dan went on the lighter side—pesto, fresh mozzarella, red onions, and mushrooms. This called for a lighter-bodied wine, so we paired it with the Herstory Prosecco.
- Lastly, we plan to make “the mark” on the pizza world with our (soon to be) famous peach and brie pizza—red sauce, mozzarella, peaches, brie, and prosciutto. Remove from the oven and top with apricot jam, honey, balsamic glaze, and arugula. Pair this with our Vintner Rose.

Step-by-Step Pizza Making Guide
- Preheat the pizza oven to 700°F or the regular home oven to 500°F.
- Sprinkle an even layer of cornmeal across the surface of a pizza peel or baking sheet. Pull the dough ball into a circle using your thumb and forefingers. Continually rotate the dough in a circular motion, and let gravity pull the dough downward. When it is about ⅛ inch thick, lay it on a pizza paddle with an even layer of cornmeal spread across it. Lay the dough down and spread an even layer of sauce across the surface of the pizza dough, leaving about 1 inch of exposed dough for the crust.
Next, spread the cheese in an even layer on top of the sauce, then sprinkle your chosen meats & veggies across the top. Less is more here, as more toppings will add weight to the pizza and cause it to take longer to cook.
- Woodfired oven: Slide the pizza off of the peel and directly onto the stone at the center of the oven, and cook for 3-5 minutes, using the peel to rotate the pizza every minute or so to evenly cook it (the side of the pizza closer to the flame will cook faster, which is why it needs to be continually rotated).
- Home oven: Place pizza on a baking sheet or pan coated with cornmeal and cook for 10-12 minutes, rotating after 6 minutes.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and slice it with a pizza cutter.
