Valentine’s Day Wine Guide

Valentine’s Day — also known as the Feast of St. Valentine’s Day — is the perfect holiday to impress your sweetheart with a fabulous candlelight dinner … complete with wine, of course. To get you started, here’s a guide to some of ONEHOPE Wine’s most popular Valentine’s Day wines to buy for this romantic occasion, along with some ideas for food pairings as well.

Valentines Day Gift Guide

CALIFORNIA BRUT SPARKLING WINE ($18.99)

It’s always fun to start with a classic cocktail, and the Smitten Kitten — a twist on the classic Cosmopolitan — sparkles with a splash of bubbly and fresh berries. Plus, the color is spot on for your Valentine’s Day festivities. To make, combine 1 cup of chilled vodka, a 1/2 cup of triple sec, and a 1/2 cup of cranberry juice in a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake well and pour into chilled glasses, garnish with 4 T. of fresh pomegranate seeds, 1/4 cup of raspberries and 1/4 cup of blackberries, and top with ONEHOPE Sparkling Brut.

Another Champagne-laced cocktail to try is the Cupid’s Cup — a combination of 1 part St. Germain elderflower liqueur, 2 parts Hendricks Gin, 3/4 part lemon juice, 1/4 shot simple syrup and 1 part muddle strawberry, topped sliced strawberries, fresh mint, and a splash of bubbly.

CALIFORNIA CHARDONNAY ($18.99)

A wilted frisée salad with light, slightly bitter greens, mustard vinaigrette, and Granny Smith apples is perfect paired with ONEHOPE’s California Chardonnay. The apples bring out the hint of apple and pear in the wine, while the vinaigrette offers the perfect touch of acidity to complement the bitterness of the greens. This is a delicious, light, and crisp salad to enjoy before a hearty main course.

2012 CALIFORNIA RED WINE BLEND ($18.99)

A blend of blackberry and boysenberry jam, this blend offers simple, juicy flavors of mild oak and cedar with a bit of black tea. Share with your significant other over anything from pizza to prime rib.

29 TWELVE CALIFORNIA DESSERT WINE ($34.99)

The 29 Twelve exhibits blackberry compote, quince, sweet tobacco, and cardamom flavors, making it a rich and sweet wine that pairs deliciously with flavorful cheeses, smoky barbeque, or salted and roasted nuts.

2008 SONOMA COAST RESERVE SYRAH ($29.99)

Don’t forget the chocolate! Syrah-based wines have a richness of cherry and blackberry fruits, and a dense, textured mouth-feel that can’t be beat with chocolate.

EDNA VALLEY PINOT NOIR RED GLITTER BOTTLE ($69)

Leave your sweetheart remembering you fondly with a gift of this elegant red glitter-encased bottle of pinot — a mix of bright cherries and strawberries, with hints of violet pastille and cola.
